Matera, ITALY

Matera is famous for the caves where people lived from the 12^th century to 1952. But the government decided to move them to housing projects in the suburbs for their own good. Today, most people think this was a bad decision. It destroyed the community. The caves are a tourist attraction now. In 2019, Matera will be the European Capital of Culture. There are building projects everywhere.
