Beach cabins, Gouville-sur-Mer, FRANCE

In the sand dunes of Gouville-sur-Mer, there are 69 beach cabins. They are white with rooftops in different colors. Some of them are over 100 years old. When it became fashionable to swim in the sea, at the start of the 20^th century, a hotel owner built them for his guests. He took them to the cabins in a horse-drawn carriage. They could change into their swimming costumes, shelter from the wind and eat meals. Today, the cabins belong to private owners, who are not allowed to stay the night or use them for storage.
